The Oklahoma Algebra Highway: A Curricular Roadmap to Success

The Oklahoma Algebra Highway will consist of 40 professional development hours to enhance curricular awareness and to deepen the PASS content knowledge of pre-algebra and Algebra I teachers, especially in districts with high poverty rates. This institute’s goals will be achieved through a collegial workshop where hands-on training, experienced presenters, appropriate manipulatives, rigorous curriculum, follow-up activities, and reflective practices will be included.

During this workshop, participants will:

  1. Increase their Pre-Algebra and Algebra I conceptual knowledge
  2. Demonstrate increased mathematical learning
  3. Practice exemplary instructional strategies and reflect on their pedagogy
  4. Analyze curricular and assessment choices that affect student learning
  5. Share best practices within collaborative groups throughout the year
  6. Become effective teacher leaders for coherent mathematics education

  3. Six Algebra resource books
  4. A binder of activities presented during the workshop
